The standard from 1894(written in 1891) unchanged in 1954 and 1965.
The modified standard from 1986 and 1999 with major size changes to include Poodlex Poodle crosses.
Back to basics: a medium sized, long wooly coated, rustic dog.Dogs that correspond to the standard written for a medium sized dog. Black is no longer the only color produced. Size is being brought down from the 2005 standard.
Males: 56 to 61 cms Females: 52 to 56 cms
The long wooly coat is an essential characteristic of the Barbet. The curls are not tight or frizzy. (Tight curls cannot be long.) Coat length: 6 cms to 14 cms.Natural looking! It has been a long road, but things are coming together.
