Visual standard of the Barbet: back to basics in 2011


 


The standard from 1894(written in 1891) unchanged in 1954 and 1965.


The modified standard from 1986 and 1999 with major size changes to include Poodlex Poodle crosses.


Back to basics: a medium sized, long wooly coated, rustic dog.Dogs that correspond to the standard written for a medium sized dog.
Black is no longer the only color produced.
Size is being brought down from the 2005 standard.

Males: 56 to 61 cms
Females: 52 to 56 cms

The long wooly coat is an essential characteristic of the Barbet. The curls are not tight or frizzy. (Tight curls cannot be long.)
Coat length: 6 cms to 14 cms.Natural looking!
It has been a long road, but things are coming together.
